The deed is done.
Reptile-inspired triple pack Three Scales Left will roll out their debut e.p. Poikilothermic Poetry in December 2025. The release features five of the band’s classic compositions in contemporary arrangement and sound. Musicwise, prone listeners may easily detect that the songs on offer reach back to the late 80s and one can also tell, which artists and tracks were obviously assembled on the mixtapes of the Three Scales Leftmembers (Bobo Wortmann/ drums, Norman Vehre/ guitar und Bork the Animal/ bass and vocals) at that time.
In terms of content the five songs on Poikilothermic Poetry ramble literarily-epic and historically-political as well as personal topics.
„Seakfreet“ focuses on the legendary figure Siegfried (homophonic pun intended), drawing its inspiration directly from the epic poem “Song of the Nibelungs”.
The afflatus for „Like the Wind“ is a fantasy story which paints a rather gloomy picture of the fight between good and evil. However, in the end there is still the hope, that music – used as a weapon- might defeat violence… nice thought, eh?
„At the Frontier“ deals with how individual freedom suffers from oppression in a totalitarian system and thus (sadly) has a scaring up-to-dateness, Listen to this song as long as it hasn’t got targeted by anti-democratic fanatics and autocratical bootlickers…
“Banging in the Province“ touches on the musicians’ past, looking back on the high hopes and shattered dreams of an up and coming-band in a rural area. Three Scales Left’s somewhat disillusioning résumé about making music is summed up at the end: no deal, no hair, no fame!
“On the run” is also due to Three Scales Left’s countryish background. The song deliberately uses stereotypes and clichés, ironically commenting on prejudices, isolation and subcultural solidarity during a period of time, in which it was common to ostracize heavy metal music as well as its followers.
Poikilothermic Poetry came into being despite adverse conditions such as financial gaps, massive audio data loss, interpersonal beef and the attrition of several recording locations. The e.p, will be issued in limited numbers on cd and vinyl. Three Scales Left are craving to win the “oldest newcomer of the year 2026”-Awards!
Poikilothermic Poetry is an epitome of Three Scales Left’s homeland, the music being like a solitarily hillwalk under an overcast sky: completely unhip and non-zeitgeisty… and it is most likely to make the best impact when you listen while hitting back a couple of local beers with some good mates!
