Banging in the Province
banging in the province
strumming the guitar, a growling thunder from the hills,
beating the skins, a tribal call back from garage rehearsal days,
cream sauce chips at Niki’s,
Herb’s gear all set up,
wicked echoes haunting waterworks
Tube Valley rough scales are craving for tape sales,
rating low, but aiming high
long hair, cool deal, great fame and glory
blisters on their hands, long practice is taking its toll,
spreading the sound
leap, kick and yell – dropping the tail,
flat out like a lizard drinking ‘gainst the cesspool winds-
bickering to build a reputation,
votaries of four-four-time in has-been bars,
pitching up for petty gigs, setting out to rock
ashes to ashes
we’ll stick together
dust to dust
forever
no deal, no hair, no fame
banging in the province
